Asylum claims
Asylum, built on evidence
Asylum protects people who fear harm at home because of who they are or what they believe. The claim is won or lost on detail: dates, places, documents and a story told the same way every time.
What we do
Asylum applications filed with the agency or in immigration court (Form I-589)
A written declaration in your own words, in your language
Country reports, witness letters, medical and police records
Preparation for the interview or hearing, with practice questions
Related protection if asylum is not available

A claim, step by step
The first four steps
Asylum is hard to rush and easy to lose to a missed deadline. This is how we start.
- 01
Check the clock
Most applicants must file within one year of arriving. We look at your entry date first and tell you what it means.
- 02
Put it on paper
We take your account in sessions, at your pace, and build one clear timeline from it.
- 03
Gather what backs it up
We request records, ask for letters from people who saw what happened and add reports about conditions in your country.
- 04
File, then prepare
Once the application is in, we get you ready for the interview or hearing, including the hard questions.
How we work
A word about safety and honesty
What you tell us stays between us. We don't contact anyone in your home country, and we don't share your account with the agency until you've read it and decided to file.
We also tell you plainly when a claim is weak or when another path fits better. A claim built on an exaggeration does more harm than none.
Asylum questions
I have been here more than a year. Is it too late?
Not always. There are exceptions for changed conditions and for some personal circumstances. We look at your dates and your story before telling you.
May I work while I wait?
A work permit can be requested after the asylum application has been pending for a set period. We calendar that date for you.
Do my spouse and children go on the same application?
In many cases, yes, if they are with you or can be added on time. We will confirm who qualifies before we file.
Start by telling us when you arrived
Tell us when you arrived and what happened. We will take it from there.
